Those inclined to ponder on life’s meaning often share a common weakness of pessimism. With this bias hindering the view, where can they find redemption in this complicated world?
The Meaning series takes destructive images and evokes the beauty that can be found within them. These covers expose viewers to images of cancer biopsies, alzheimer’s scans, and bioweapons to highlight the power of perspective. When confronting decay, do you choose to see the gloom or beauty?
Each of the 5 philosophical works in the series address a key issue in the Nihilism challenge, and reveal how different philosophers have prevailed with strength and enlightenment.
Within the philosophical movement of postmodernism, individuals are challenged to reject tradition and create their own definition of truth. To explore the impact of postmodernism on artists, I created a documentary series about four designers called the Masters of Postmodernism.
Each case features original copywriting that discusses the artist’s approach toward finding and understanding truth. The explanation of the artist’s philosophy is then contrasted with their artwork. This shows a cause-and-effect between their thoughts and actions, concepts and executions.
Space Club originated in the Art + Design department at Anderson University with a goal of spreading scientific curiosity to creative audiences. At first, it was simply an excuse to watch documentaries and mind-bending movies on the art studio projectors. It wasn’t long before we gained a large in-person audience, and realized the power of science to inspire our creative classmates. Throughout college, our efforts expanded into a social media network with a continual feed of awe-provoking ideas.
